We accept all major insurances and understand their guidelines yet we are completely independent & have no insurance affiliations. This means our obligation is to you (the customer) & not to the insurance company.
Direct Repair shops: Most body shops are DRP or “Direct Repair Program” shops. These shops get the bulk of their collision repair work directly from insurance companies. In exchange for this referral work, DRP body shops must agree to concessions such as parts discounts & reduced rates. They pass these discounts on to your insurance company, instead of you. This is why insurance companies sometimes pressure customers to repair their vehicles at their network (DRP) shops. We are not a DRP body shop. We work for you, not your insurance company.
What you need to do.
These are the steps we recommend you take if making an insurance claim :
Be sure to make a police report
Call the insurance company you will be making a claim with, either your own insurance (if you are at fault & you are the insured) or the other vehicle’s insurance (if he or she is at fault & you are the claimant) . See “very important” note below.
You will be given a claim #. We will need this claim# when contacting the insurance company.
Car rentals- If you are the claimant & the insurance has accepted liability for your damages, they will pay for your rental car while your vehicle is being repaired. If you are the insured, check to see if you have rental car coverage in your policy.
Bring in or tow your vehicle to National Body Works (call us for towing)
Give us the keys & you are done.
The rental car company will bring your rental vehicle to our shop for you.
Very Important: When contacting the insurance company to make your claim, they may want to make arrangements for their adjuster to inspect your vehicle. Many times insurance companies will talk the customer into taking their car to one of their facilities for inspection or they may come to inspect the car outside in the street, unsupervised. These preliminary estimates are usually incomplete and very low in price (sometimes half of the true cost of repair). We strongly recommend you arrange for the first inspection to be done at National Body Works so that we can disassemble the vehicle to see all hidden damages for a complete & thorough inspection. We will then discuss with the adjuster all the details of the repair. This way we make sure the repair plan in his estimate is correct & nothing is left out. This will maximize your coverage and save time, avoiding delays due to needing additional inspections later on.
